Daily Dot Media acquired The Kernel in January 2014. The British publication earned a reputation for its investigative reporting and uncompromising examination of tech culture and Web communities. That legacy lives on in its new issues-based format, with an emphasis on in-depth features and informed opinion pieces. The first issue published Aug. 10, 2014.
