Significance of Google Authorship Mark-up for building online reputation

One of the important factors to establish online presence is to build informative content where other people can learn a lot from and in order to create new strategy that will last long particularly in SEO.  Appearance is another necessary part of building online reputation and to make people recognize you easily, quickly and of course to expose your true identity as an owner or contributor of a particular website.

Google has developed a new platform called ‘’authorship markup’’ where we can utilize to make our very own photo appear in SERP next to our post. This new platform has helped many website owners and bloggers to increase their website traffic through SERP (CTR) and it also makes their website to stand out even more among the others who are not using authorship markup.

Authorship Markup has several benefits that we should enjoy and not abuse, this includes:

  • Shows ownership of a website – If you would like to claim your ownership for a particular website, it is extremely important that you use this Google platform. This will increase your popularity and will build more trust and authority from your valuable and respective website visitors.
  • Increases your online credibility – Online credibility is the most important for us especially if we are mainly getting our source of income online. The main purpose of authorship markup is, I believe that Google wants to reward people who are providing reputable and reliable content. Also, to eliminate the presence of spammers and to recognize the effort of the real ones.
  • Builds strong online relationship – Having a connection with someone anonymously is quite bothering and no one would want to fully trust someone if they don’t know his/her true identity. So typically, if someone adopts the authorship markup to his website, there is a huge possibility that it will build even more strong relationship between the readers and the owner of a website.
  • Requires maintaining good online presence – As I have mentioned earlier, Google wants to reward people with good and ethical approach towards SEO and Google wanted us to maintain trustworthiness. However, if for some reason, a website owner started to violate their rules and guidelines for whatever reason, not only the website will suffer but also the owner of that particular website as it is connected as one.

Final words

Google has given us a lot of tools that we can use online to help us build reputation online. There is disavow tool which can help us inform Google which particular URL or website not to count as valid links if we noticed something unnatural linking procedure that will negatively affect our website. There is also authorship mark-up which generally for building strong online profile and claiming authorship on our website.

      Agree with you guys. This authorship markup thing is really beneficial. The authors get good ranks in SERPS if they have this future turned on. The credibility of the author increases and he gets more exposure too. 🙂

    Google authorship is an great feature rolled out by Google and it is very important too. All of the benefits has been mentioned above in the post.

    Apart from those mentioned above, using Google Authorship Markup can increases CTR%. I myself prefer to click on links with verified authorship whenever I make a search on Google.

    I can attest to the fact that Google Authorship helps with both SEO and social proof. (They go hand-in-hand). After I got this working on my site, I noticed a significant increase in my organic search traffic. I can’t scientifically prove that it’s mainly due to authorship but I’m convinced it is. Personally, if I’m looking at a results page and I see the profile pic of someone who I already know and respect, chances are that’s the page I will visit. They’ve already established themselves as knowledgeable on that topic.

    Google authorship really an cool one which increase our reputation and it can be easily claimed with few steps as listed above and majorly Big giant started to list the authors in search result meanwhile great post bro

    Google never reveal their exact algorithm of any product . However, authorship is marketing strategy of Google+ and Author Rank is another hidden mania of bloggers and webmaster.

    Yes, it is easy to set up “authorship mark up” on Google. There will be two simple steps to establish it.
    The first is to create a link to your Google profile from your webpage.
    The second step of the verification process is to add a reciprocal link back from your profile to the site(s) you just updated.
